This artwork is a colorful 40" x 40" acrylic painting titled "The Symphony Started Without Me", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

It is a work exploring form, color, unconscious abstraction and physical movement. This painting is unique in it's image, it's juxtaposition of color and it's sweeping range of abstract painterly techniques. It has some texture and a variety of paint applications to add vibrancy to the image. Charcoal accents are also present.

This unframed 40" × 40" abstract painting radiates a luminous, dreamlike energy through layers of translucent color and atmospheric brushwork. A veil of soft turquoise and aqua washes descends from the upper portion of the composition, creating the impression of mist, rain, or sea air drifting across an imagined landscape.

Beneath the cool expanse, warm passages of coral, amber, gold, and burnt orange emerge and dissolve into one another, suggesting a distant shoreline, glowing horizon, or sunlit marsh. Delicate vertical drips and softened marks rise from the middle ground like reeds, sails, or fleeting memories, while subtle textures and transparent layers reveal the artist’s process beneath the surface.

The lower portion of the painting reflects the colors above in fluid bands of chartreuse, yellow, turquoise, and soft earth tones, evoking water catching and scattering light. The interplay of warm and cool hues creates a sense of movement and reflection, drawing the viewer into a tranquil yet emotionally charged environment.

Presented unframed as a gallery-wrapped canvas, the painting has a contemporary, airy presence that complements coastal, modern, transitional, and light-filled interiors.
