Secrets to Swimming Acrylic Painting on Canvas, 40"x40" Original Art

This artwork is a colorful, intriguing and captivating 40" x 40" acrylic painting titled "Secrets To Swimming", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

This abstract painting is a vibrant, improvisational composition built from layered washes of luminous color, gestural marks, and loosely suggested forms. Dominated by radiant yellows, electric blues, saturated reds, and translucent greens, the work creates a sense of movement and discovery, as though images are emerging and dissolving simultaneously within a glowing atmosphere.

Organic shapes drift across the surface, hinting at architectural fragments, masks, vessels, or figures without fully resolving into recognizable subjects. Transparent veils of color overlap with energetic brushwork, drips, scratches, and calligraphic lines, giving the painting a feeling of spontaneity and emotional immediacy. Areas of intense chromatic contrast are balanced by softer passages where pigments blend into luminous, almost ethereal transitions.

The composition invites viewers to explore their own interpretations, revealing new relationships and visual narratives over time. Rather than depicting a specific scene, the painting evokes memory, imagination, and sensation through color, rhythm, and form. Its layered surface and expressive mark-making create a dynamic tension between structure and freedom, making it both visually engaging and emotionally resonant.

The overall effect is energetic yet contemplative—a contemporary abstract work that brings warmth, vitality, and a sense of creative exploration to a space. In a modern interior, the painting serves as a striking focal point, its bold palette enlivening surrounding architecture while its ambiguous imagery encourages prolonged viewing and personal interpretation.

It is a work exploring form, color, unconscious abstraction and physical movement. This painting is unique in it's image, it's juxtaposition of color and it's sweeping range of abstract painterly techniques. It has some texture and a variety of paint applications to add vibrancy to the image. Charcoal accents are also present.

You must see this large painting in person to fully appreciate it's scope, size and beauty!

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality professional acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas.
