New Mexico Abstract Acrylic Painting, Original Art, 20"x20"

A 20" x 20"" square acrylic painting titled "Hoscotch To South Africa", original, colorful and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill. This painting is heavily textured with a circle motif; the texture at interplay using beautiful colors of orange, red, green and yellow, both muted and vibrant hues. Heavy accents of metallics highlight the central image.

A luminous abstract composition built around a floating circular form that appears suspended within a field of radiant yellow-green light. Layers of translucent color, textured surfaces, and energetic mark-making create the impression of a celestial body, seed, planet, or emerging life form viewed through an atmospheric haze.

The central circle is composed of earthy browns, warm copper tones, silvery grays, and subtle flashes of emerald green. Scratched lines, drips, splatters, and embedded textures weave through the surface, suggesting movement, growth, and the passage of time. The surrounding field glows with intense chartreuse, lemon yellow, and soft gold, creating a halo-like effect that draws the eye inward.

The painting balances spontaneity and structure. While the circular form anchors the composition, scattered accents of green, red-orange, and blue create visual rhythm across the canvas. Thick passages of paint and incised textures reveal a tactile, almost archaeological quality, inviting close inspection.

Overall, the work conveys a sense of emergence, transformation, and quiet energy. It evokes natural processes, cosmic phenomena, and organic growth simultaneously, allowing viewers to discover their own narrative within its layered abstraction. The bright palette and atmospheric glow create an uplifting presence, making the painting both contemplative and visually vibrant.

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality acrylic paints used on a 7/8" gallery wrapped quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a strong wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is splined and stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting that requires no additional framing.

It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. This archival painting will last for decades to come.

This would make a perfect gift for your home, business or for that special someone.
