Southwest Painting on Canvas, 30" x 40", Abstract Art, New Mexico Original

This artwork is a stunning 30" x 40" acrylic painting titled "Probably A Bad Idea", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of Thomas Hill.

It is a work exploring form, texture, color, abstraction and body movement. This painting is unique in it's image, it's juxtaposition of color and it's sweeping range of painterly techniques.

This expressive abstract painting radiates movement, energy, and transformation through sweeping gestures of vivid color and layered translucent washes. A bold crimson arc flows diagonally through the composition, creating a dynamic sense of motion that contrasts with luminous fields of turquoise, orange, chartreuse, and golden ochre. Soft atmospheric passages blend into textured surfaces marked by drips, scratches, and subtle traces of the artist's hand, revealing a process that feels both spontaneous and deliberate.

The painting evokes the feeling of emerging light, shifting landscapes, or an emotional journey unfolding across the canvas. Warm earth tones mingle with vibrant cool accents, creating a balance between intensity and serenity. The composition remains intentionally open-ended, inviting viewers to discover their own associations—whether they see a desert sunrise, flowing water, a flowering form, or a moment of personal transformation.

Rich in color, texture, and gesture, this contemporary abstract work brings warmth, optimism, and visual energy to a space while rewarding prolonged viewing with new discoveries and interpretations.

You must see this painting in person to fully appreciate it's scope, size and beauty!
