New Mexico Landscape Acrylic Painting, Original Art 30"x40"

Artwork long in the making and composed of multiple layers is this 30" x 40" acrylic painting titled "A Peculiar Adjustment", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

This abstract expressionist painting radiates with a sense of emergence and transformation. Layers of translucent color drift and collide across the canvas, creating an atmospheric field of warm golds, amber oranges, coral reds, soft greens, and hints of violet. The composition feels suspended between landscape and memory, suggesting fleeting forms that appear and dissolve within luminous veils of color.

At the center, angular geometric shapes intersect the softer organic passages, providing structure amid the flowing movement. Delicate vertical drips descend through the composition, adding rhythm and emphasizing the painting's spontaneous, painterly energy. The interplay between transparent washes and more saturated passages creates remarkable depth, inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface into hidden layers of light and form.

The palette evokes autumn sunlight filtering through foliage, desert blooms after rain, or distant mountain forms emerging through mist. Rather than depicting a specific place, the work captures an emotional atmosphere—warmth, renewal, and the quiet tension between order and intuition.

Overall, the painting is both energetic and contemplative, balancing vibrant color with ethereal softness. Its luminous glow and fluid movement make it a compelling contemporary statement piece that rewards extended viewing as new shapes, pathways, and visual relationships continually reveal themselves.

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality professional acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a reinforced wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is splined and stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting that needs no framing.

It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. It is archival, will last for decades to come and is an exceptional value for an original art piece.

This artwork would make a great addition to your home, business, or as a gift.
