What is the tip of the iceberg, and what is the iceberg in this 30" x 40" acrylic painting titled "Going Out On A Limb", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of Thomas Hill.

This abstract painting evokes a dreamlike landscape distilled into simple forms, color, and atmosphere. A luminous field of golden yellows and warm ochres dominates the composition, creating a sense of light, heat, and quiet radiance. Near the top, a large rounded organic shape hovers like a sunlit mesa, island, or cloud formation, softened by translucent layers of paint and delicate vertical drips that suggest rainfall, memory, or the passage of time.

A dark horizontal band divides the composition, grounding the image and creating a visual horizon between the upper and lower realms. Below, a collection of abstract forms introduces a more playful geometry: a vibrant blue-and-yellow shape reminiscent of a polished stone or seed pod, a warm red oval floating nearby, and three dark vertical forms that echo ancient standing stones, columns, or distant figures.
