Southwest Painting On Canvas, Original Acrylic Artwork

What was, what could have been, what is a disappointment is portrayed in this 30" x 40" abstract acrylic painting titled "The Ruins Of The Sugarcube Empire", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

This abstract painting is filled with warm, luminous color and a strong sense of movement. Layers of golden yellow, orange, rust, and red sweep across the surface, creating a glowing, sunlit atmosphere. A large curved form dominates the center, suggesting motion, shelter, or an architectural arch, while darker maroon and brown passages add weight and contrast.

On the right side, vertical and horizontal shapes hint at windows, beams, or interior structure, giving the piece a loose sense of place without becoming literal. Bright accents of green, blue, and pale cream break through the warm palette, adding freshness and depth. The brushwork is soft, expressive, and atmospheric, with blended edges and translucent layers that make the painting feel both emotional and dreamlike.

Overall, the work has a warm Southwestern or modern abstract quality, balancing bold color with an intimate, contemplative mood.

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back.

High quality acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a reinforced wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is splined and stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting.

It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. It is archival, will last for decades to come and is an exceptional value for an original art piece.
