Desert Abstract Painting, Original Art

Colorful, expressive with brushstrokes and a hint of mythology, a 30" x 40" acrylic painting titled "Semblance", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

This expressive abstract painting is dominated by a luminous yellow-orange form that rises through the center like a large blooming flower or sunlit botanical shape. Around it, smoky blue-green washes soften the background, giving the piece an atmospheric, almost landscape-like openness.

Bold black and charcoal strokes sweep across the top and right side, adding weight and drama, while vivid magenta, crimson, violet, and deep blue marks surge upward from the lower half. These vertical gestures feel like petals, stems, flames, or movement emerging from the base of the composition.

The painting has a loose, gestural quality, with transparent washes, scraped textures, and energetic brushwork layered together. Its palette is bright and emotional—sunny yellows, hot pinks, oranges, greens, and blues—balanced by darker accents that keep the composition grounded. Overall, it feels vibrant, organic, and spontaneous, suggesting a wild garden, a burst of growth, or an abstracted floral form caught in motion.

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" gallery wrapped quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a strong wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting. It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. It is archival and will last for decades to come.

Art is a perfect gift for a friend or a loved one, and also enhances any office or home.
