Abstracted Sarcasm Acrylic Painting On Canvas

A 30" x 40" acrylic painting titled "To Blink At A Lizard Is To Die Twice" that explores new lines and shapes, original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of Thomas Hill.

This abstract painting radiates warmth and movement through a luminous field of golden yellow, amber, and glowing orange. Broad horizontal bands anchor the composition while bold crimson forms rise and intersect with sweeping arcs, creating a sense of structure emerging from light.

A series of deep red vertical elements suggest architectural columns, gateways, or ceremonial markers, contrasting with soft translucent washes that drift across the surface. Curving passages of violet, blue-gray, and green introduce rhythm and balance, guiding the eye through the composition like a visual journey.

The painting balances geometry and spontaneity, with layered brushwork and softened edges creating an atmosphere that feels both ancient and contemporary. Warm colors dominate the canvas, evoking sunlight, desert landscapes, adobe architecture, and the glowing intensity of a Southwestern horizon.

Rather than depicting a specific place, the work invites personal interpretation. Viewers may see a bridge, a doorway, a landscape, or an abstract memory suspended between form and emotion. The result is a contemplative and energetic composition that celebrates color, movement, and the expressive power of abstraction.

It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a reinforced wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting.

It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. It is archival and will last for decades to come.

This one-of-a-kind artwork would make a great addition to your home, your office, or as a gift.
