Fog and Water Colorful Abstract Original Painting

Thinking about the past and its sometimes hidden influence, a 30" x 40" acrylic painting called "The Fog Hides The Water Below", original and one of a kind painted in the New Mexico studio of contemporary artist Thomas Hill.

This painting is a soft, atmospheric abstract composition built around warm architectural shapes and glowing color. Vertical orange and red forms rise through the center like simplified towers or sunlit structures, while curved bands of yellow, green, and red sweep around them, giving the piece a sense of movement and enclosure.

The background has a misty, watercolor-like quality, with pale peach, blue, and green tones blending gently into one another. Hints of blue-gray shapes suggest distant hills or rooftops, adding a subtle landscape feeling without becoming literal. The overall mood is warm, dreamlike, and expressive, with the forms feeling both urban and organic.

Its loose edges, translucent color fields, and layered brushwork give the painting an intimate, hand-rendered quality. The piece feels like a memory of a city, desert village, or imagined place seen through light, heat, and emotion.
It is hand-signed and dated both on the front and the back. High quality acrylic paints used on a 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, quality 10 ounce thick cotton duck canvas. Stretched on a reinforced wooden frame, this gallery wrapped canvas is stapled on the back and painted on all sides to reveal a wraparound painting. It is ready to hang unframed and comes with all hanging hardware attached. It is archival and will last for decades to come.
