This is a one-of-a-kind original drawing, not a print.
The artwork is a highly detailed, intricate black and white illustration that combines surreal and fantastical elements. The central focus is a pair of large, round eyes with dilated pupils, underscored by thick, expressive lines to simulate lashes or eyelids. These eyes seem to implode into a cacophony of objects and figures that blend into a chaotic scene below.
Surrounding the eyes, numerous elongated, bent and twisted forms resembling fingers or organic tendrils frame the scene, enhancing the surreal nature of the piece. These forms possess a fleshy texture, suggesting a fusion of the human body with abstract shapes.
Below the eyes, an upside-down world unfolds, teeming with a variety of elements. Buildings, bridges, and other architectural structures are jumbled together, defying gravity and any logical spatial organization. Amidst these structures, humanoid shapes and various objects, including dice, are scattered throughout, contributing to the sense of disorder.
The scene is bordered by a patterned edge, which further contains the composition within the edges of the canvas. The overall effect is one of a dreamlike hallucination or a nightmarish vision, dense with symbolisms and capable of multiple interpretations. The stark monochrome palette heightens the contrast and the play of shadows and textures throughout the piece.
